A Little About Me...

Where it all began…

It’s been quite a road to now. I started learning HTML on a Dreamcast (yes, the game console) with a keyboard and a modem connection in the 90s. At the time, I thought it was amazing that my game console could double as a computer, even though everything took FOREVER to do on it. None the less, I amassed great patience with my snail speed internet and I went to HTMLGoodies.com every day after school to learn more HTML. I finally got up the nerve to start my own website(still on Dreamcast btw) using AngelFire.com free hosting. It was an anime website called Volcanic Dragon. Fast forward a year or so, I now owned a computer and my first domain, volcanicdragon.com. Later on, I built my 1st professional website for a family member AllThingsLarge.com (still standing today) in 2000. It was built completely with tables and HTML. I didn’t have any real knowledge about CSS, web standards, or SEO at the time so the design was really basic and definitely not a good design. lol

Getting a reality check…

When I went to college, I got a serious reality check about supporting myself. I was going to school, working at the same time, learning to drive and I was doing it in a brand new home of Tulsa, OK. A place I’ve never been to in my life but so happened to be where the only college that accepted me after highschool was located. Safe to say, the time I used to have to game and web design dwindled to zero quickly. I wouldn’t touch web designing again beyond some basic maintenance on AllthingsLarge.com when it was broken by the owner trying to make updates, for about 4 years.

Getting back to me…

In 2011, I was back in Houston(Thank God) and made the decision to get back to what I love, web designing and programming. I realized the internet had changed greatly and simply knowing outdated HTML code and tables wasn’t good enough. There was a ton of new technologies out there that I didn’t have a clue about, so I enrolled in Full Sail University online course to bring me back up to speed. 2 years and hundreds of hours of coding later, I got my Bachelors Degree in Web Design & Development and here I am today.
